Does Microsoft Forms Have a Quiz Maker? Current Capabilities and Limits

The tightest fit is a team or school already using Microsoft 365, because identity, collaboration, Teams and Excel workflows can remain in the same ecosystem.

Microsoft's current help documentation says Copilot can create a draft quiz from a description, including a title, questions and answers. It also states that the feature requires a Microsoft 365 account and a Copilot license.

Treat the generated quiz as a draft. Check every marked answer, remove ambiguous wording, review distractors and confirm the question set covers the intended objectives. AI assistance reduces authoring time, but it does not establish content validity or an appropriate pass standard.

1. Open New Quiz and state the objective in the description.
2. Add or generate questions, then verify each correct answer and point value.
3. Review answer messages for accidental clues.
4. Test every branch and permission setting with a non-owner account.
5. Preview on mobile and desktop.
6. Complete sample attempts and inspect both the Forms result view and Excel export.

Move beyond a general form-based quiz when the decision requires detailed question-bank controls, sophisticated randomization, standardized accommodations, proctoring, certificate expiration, item-level psychometrics, formal appeals or guaranteed LMS-package compatibility.

The requirement should be written before choosing the tool. A familiar Microsoft workflow can reduce administration effort, but familiarity is not a substitute for the controls demanded by the consequence.
